Anglo-German Youth Music Week

[ Students Reunited ]

Photograph taken in 1996 at Oberwesel (Germany) during the 25th Anniversary of the Anglo-German Youth Music WeekThe Anglo-German Youth Music Week was established by Jeffery Babb in 1972, undertaking the role of Honorary Course Director throughout its 27 year history. The event was subsequently administered by Malcolm Goodman who first attended as a student in 1973, later becoming its Honorary Course Administrator from 1980 until 1999.

Both Jeffery Babb and Malcolm Goodman were founding charity trustees of the National Association of Youth Orchestras, through which they developed the Music Week as a partnership between the Internationaler Arbeitskreis für Music (Germany) and the National Association of Youth Orchestras (UK), with the annual summer residential event alternating between venues in Germany and England.

A special collage of images from the Anglo-German Youth Music Week taken during more than two decades of its history since 1972, as presented to Jeffery Babb and Dirk Ellee. The event has always maintained very close links with the county of Lincolnshire, with many local students regularly attending courses at its former 'home' of Stoke Rochford Hall near Grantham.

Malcolm Goodman retired from the music week in 1999 when the final "Anglo-German Youth Music Week" took place, prior to the establishment of the new European Youth Music Week, with Jeffery Babb and colleague Dirk Ellee subsequently retiring from the event in 2003. The European Youth Music Week now comes under the direct administration of the National Association of Youth Orchestras

To maintain our links with former students, Malcolm Goodman has established this special 'Students Re-united' section within the Notelink website to enable former students keep in touch and possibly renew friendships from years gone by (see below).
