There has been a Choral Society in Sleaford for more than a hundred years on and off. The present one was formed in 1964, and its members come from Dunston in the north, Pointon in the south, East Heckington in the east, Rauceby in the west and most villages in between, as well as from Sleaford itself. The choir is over eighty strong and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from September to June in Carre's Grammar School from 7.15 to 9.15pm. The musical director is Graham Garton and our resident pianist is Roland Lee.
We usually perform three concerts a year (March, May and December), in Sleaford Parish Church of St Denys'. Recent performances have included Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’, Selection of Operatic Choruses, Randolph Thompson’s ‘The Peaceable Kingdom’, Maunder’s ‘Olivet to Calvary’, Bach’s ‘Easter Oratorio’, Haydn’s ‘Nelson Mass’ Selections from ‘Gilbert & Sullivan’ as well as songs by Dvorak, Parry, Rutter, Chilcott, Carter, Bartok, Vivaldi, McCartney, McFarlane and our present Musical Director Graham Garton. Soloists have been members of the choir or young artistes at the start of their careers. Concert programme for 2007/2008 season: 15th December 2007 Christmas
